Like the Republicans have ever cared about being normal. They’re the weirdest motherfuckers there are. But they’re proof-positive that if you give something concrete to vote for, that people will vote for you, even if it’s fucking stupid. Maybe instead of campaigning on “we’re not them” the Democrats can pick something to fight for; actually making an affirmative case for something rather than defaulting to the mean of the mythical “average voter” that makes no sense in reality anyway.
