A couple recently married in Argentina ran afoul of some of those unchanged attitudes when it was discovered that they were both transgender. Their marriage in a Catholic diocese in Corrientes is now under investigation, despite the fact that one of them was assigned male at birth, and the other female.
If I read this correctly, a man (ftm) and a woman (mtf) married. What’s the problem? Ying or yang, the marriage was between a man and a woman. Did I read that correctly?
Trans = bad… that’s the long and the short of it…
He’s exactly correct in my estimation. The faithful under Francis showed that even if the Pontiff changes doctrine, people will only go along so far depending on the doctrinal change regardless of the fact that he’s supposed to be God’s representative on earth. If Leo makes some sort of sweeping doctrinal change towards something akin to the Episcopal Church in the United States, there would be rioting among the faithful and a giant schism within the church. 1000% the attitudes towards non-heteronormative people has to change before the church can make meaningful changes to it’s doctrine regarding LGBTQIA+ people.
Interesting logic there.
One you would apply to a political institution and not, say, a moral and ethical one that has objective righteousness on its side.
