It’s not all Democrats though. Unfortunately the Democrats in charge are the absolute worst of the bunch.

Republicans are liberal fascists, and (establishment) Democrats are fascist liberals. The only domestic policy that would really be different if Schumer were President instead of Trump is that Schumer would make it look legit. Foreign policy would be better, except in regards to Israel. We desperately need to move away from the Schumer wing, and I think Newsom would be worse.

Democrats have been eroding away my “basic human rights” since at least when Clinton took office. Trump wouldn’t be nearly as bad as he is without systems put in place for him by Democrats. Obama greatly expanded executive power and mass surveillance. Obama and Clinton both wed the Democratic party to Wall Street which is the literal root of fascism. (Fascism binds economic and political power systems).

Again and again Democrats have backed the militarization of police and the expansion of the private prison system. (Credit to Biden for breaking the private prison trend, but don’t look for that from Newsom).

If Newsom is our next President, he will absolutely be followed by a Republican who will be even worse than Trump. I said the same about Biden in 2020, and look what happened.

The most important front for fighting fascism in America today is making damn sure the next Democratic nominee is nothing like Newsom. Id he wins the nomination, the war is lost. It really won’t matter if he wins or not.

Strategically, voting in the wrong Democrats is what enabled the Republicans to do all of that. The US was in decline long before this batch of Republicans, and the Clintons had a lot to do with it.

Gavin Newsom believes in nothing. I honestly don’t see any reason to believe he would govern any differently than Vance. He’s nothing but a political opportunist, and the opportunities he seems drawn to are all coming from the right. Having Vance in office would fire up progressive resistance. Newsom would drive progressives to despair.

Is it really? I think we’d be a hell of a lot better off today if Trump won in 2020 instead of 2024. I also think we’d be better off if George Bush Sr. beat Clinton in 1992. The wrong Democrat is far more damaging in the long term than any Republican.

They killed “Vote blue no matter who.” when they failed to line up behind Mamdani. If it has to be Newsom or Vance, I’ll vote for Vance. Not expecting better of the Democrats will do far more harm in the long run.

I have a theory that a lot of things are going to get more violent after the election. A Democratic Congress will greatly restrain the President, greatly reducing the disincentive to dispense street justice on ICE. On the off chance that Republicans manage to hold Congress by stealing the election, waiting on democracy will no longer be tenable, which means it’s game on.
